It can be hard to find a low FODMAP dessert. If it doesn’t have flour, it has milk, if there’s no milk, there’s cream…and so on and so forth. Luckily, we’ve developed some delicious low FODMAP dessert options for you to whip up this Christmas!
All things chocolate
If you love chocolate then brace yourself for brownie heaven! Our Choc-walnut Brownies (top left) and Fudgey Pecan Brownies (top middle) will both be absolute favourites on the day. The Choc-walnut Brownies literally only require a pan, a wooden spoon and a slice-pan. They are quick, easy, and only contain 7 ingredients (most of which are pantry staples). The Fudgey Pecan Brownies require a little more prep, and have a few more ingredients, but they are worth the work if you have time on your side.
If you love a rich chocolate dessert then our Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake (top right) has your name written all over it! Perfect served with lactose-free vanilla ice-cream and fresh raspberries or strawberries.
Unfortunately for Christmas pudding lovers it is off the menu during the elimination phase of a low FODMAP diet. Fortunately, there are plenty of other Christmas classics which can be modified to be low FODMAP. If you love shortbread, then you will love our lemon macadamia shortbread (top left). It is perfect with a cuppa on Christmas day or as a thoughtful gift. If you’re after some other low FODMAP Christmas gift ideas then try our cranberry white chocolate and macadamia bark (second from left), dark chocolate truffles (second from right) or Christmas cookie jars (top right)!
If you’re a trifle lover then use a gluten-free sponge, raspberry or strawberry jelly, strawberry jam, lactose-free cream whipped with a dash of vanilla and icing sugar, lactose-free custard and sliced strawberries to make it low FODMAP. Or, if you prefer pavlova then use lactose-free cream whipped with vanilla and icing sugar and top with strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit and passionfruit – yum!
Have a safe and merry Christmas from all of us at The Fodmap Challenge!
